Oberschule Ofenerdiek (Germany)

The Ofenerdiek secondary school is a small, manageable school in Oldenburg (Germany). The school currently has 390 students and 59 teachers. It has a cafeteria with a cafeteria and leisure area as well as very well-equipped specialist rooms for computer science, technology and natural sciences. The school was awarded the seal “School without racism – school with courage” award. Lessons are taught together in classes 5 and 6. From the 7th grade onwards there are divided school branches (secondary school and secondary school).

Full-day lessons take place 2 days per week. From the 6th grade onwards, French, or practically oriented elective courses (technology, crafts, textiles, home economics) are offered. The work is done with new media (equipment with PC rooms and numerous tablets). The following qualifications can be acquired: secondary school leaving certificate, secondary school diploma, extended secondary-I qualification.

The focus at the school takes place from grade 9 onwards. This includes learning location days at vocational schools, career and company inquiries, company internships and projects, career advice from employees of the employment agency at school. For this purpose, the school cooperates with the vocational schools in Oldenburg. There are a variety of school social work working groups offering prevention, individual case assistance, social training in the classes through trained dispute mediators, reading training and individual support. The school organizes regular school festivals and sporting events and provides spacious playgrounds, games to borrow during breaks and travel offers (including skiing, trips to France and England).
